After graduating from UAB in 1974, I taught English 9-12 and Spanish I and II at a private school in Vestavia, Alliance Christian, for 12 years. In addition, I was the librarian during my planning period.  I moved to Leeds High School in 1986-87 and taught English 11, Honors English 9 and 11, and Spanish I, II and III for 14 years.  In 2000, I moved to Moody Middle and Moody Elementary as a librarian; after two years, I became the full time librarian at MMS and have been here for 16 years.

I grew up on the western side of Birmingham.  I lived my whole life in Alabama and never traveled outside of the state until I was married.  I attended 10 different schools during my first grade to twelfth grade years. I graduated from Ensley High School in 1970.  I attended the University of Alabama in Birmingham for my first teaching degree. I am a first generation college graduate and the only one of my 5 other siblings to graduate from college.  All of my children have graduated from college, and most of my nephews and nieces.  My daugter and daughters-in-law all have teaching degrees.  One son is retired Navy pilot who now flies for United Airlines, and the other is a lawyer here in Birmingham.  I have 5 grandchildren. I have lived in Leeds for over 27 years.
